Launch Site Clean Up 2011 Again this year our conservation project is "adopting" boat launch site and fishing sites around Central New York State. Last year we built 10 fishline recycling tubes and installed them around the area. This year we obtained 10 more of these tubes from Boat US, so now we have 20 sites under our wing. Come back often as we put up more pictures during the year.
After the flood, there is lots of trash and flotsam at Mud Lock on Cayuga Lake.
At least the boater and fisherman place the trash here rather then just dropping it.
Ron VanBenschoten, our member who has adopted this site, now has installed the tube at this launch.
We are starting to install the tubes that we received from Boat US. Here one is installed at Oneida Lake South launch.
And this one plus 3 others are installed on Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool.
Items collected from 5 recycling tube sites. Bottles and cans were turned in for recycling. Misc. items for recycling were turned into Onondaga Co. Recycling. Approx. 30 yards of fishing line was collected on that day. |
