Redfield Reservoir Sunday July9th 2006 The day broke with a brilliant sunrise, light winds and everyone ready to go fishing.
"Coach" Bill Kays and Jack Loughery fish.
Wrong species "Coach" Even with all the rain that we have had this spring, the water in the reservoir is at normal level. The dock at the DEC boat launch is missing. Did the DEC not put it in yet or did someone steal it?
Dick Hyde and Eric Wilsey "poke some holes"
Tom Hudson & Brad Rogers "High five" Almost everyone ran down the reservoir to the Redfield end to start fishing. Boats peeled off into every one of the many coves that run off to the southeast off the main body of the lake.

Chris Cartwright waits for his non-boater to back the trailer in. We fished until 1:00 p.m., pulled the boats, and started our weigh-in at waters edge.
Ready for fish Although the bass in the lake are smallish, there are plenty of them. The largemouth can grow as big a 5 plus pounds, but those fish were on vacation today.
So long, "see you next year" After all the fish are entered and released alive, the awarding of prize money takes place.
Dick Hyde from Bass Pro Shops awards the IM8 Graphic Rod to Ryan Smith. The Bass Pro store in Auburn has generously donated IM8 Graphic rods to be awarded to the angler that finishes just out of the money (6th place) each week. This week Ryan Smith gets the rod.
Eric Wilsey takes 5th,
Vern Robinson take 4th place Treasurer, Chris French presents the money.
Jack Loughrey is 3rd
Connell Raate takes 2nd And first place goes to Chris French with 5 fish weighing in at 8.37 pounds
President Tom Hudson awards 1st place to Chris French
Chris shows his Big Bass for the day. Chris also had the big bass for the day with a 2.56 pound Largemouth.
And now, how did Chris do it.
Chris worked a Luck "E" Strike, 4" Jogger Worm (available at Bass Pro) in Watermelon Candy color over the weed beds in the back bays, dropping it into the holes in the weeds. He had a 3/0 Mustad hook rigged weedless and no weight. |
