Take a Soldier Fishing

Our club was asked to supply boats and ground crew for this event that was held on Oneida Lake this date.

The event was run by the NYS Bass Federation and the Soldiers were from Fort Drum, Watertown, NY.

Soldiers and  boat captains checking in.

The weather had been rainy over the past two weeks

The sun made it a splendid day to go fishing.

Door prizes before launching the boats and soldiers

Because of the recent rain and high water, it was necessary for the ground crew to back in the boats

Ft Drum's MWR Services Division brought down tents, tables and chairs.

Working as a team the ground crew and the MWR Services made quick work of set up

Ft. Drum's MWR Services Workers (A great group of guys!!!)

Gift Bags for all of the soldiers being readied

The Cooks

Our club played a small part in this magnificent venture of saying thank you to the men and women of Ft. Drum.

Members of the NYS Bass Federation and friends provided boats (from 3 states) to take these soldiers out for a good time.  Most are not from the NY State area, most have been in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Thanks to all who organized and the volunteers who helped make this event possible!
