It's the middle of September and today the weather was just perfect for fishing, with sunshine, light winds and everyone ready to go fishing.
The "B" man (Banana man) has struck again Dick has found bananas in his boat at every tournament this year. He likes it. He says that now he has something to eat during the day, and by the way, it has not hurt him. See the end of this tournament.
Tom Zedick and Dave Donhauser
Tom Hudson and Guy Cromp. By persisting, it was possible to wade through many small fish and get a limit of legal bass.
Connell Raate & Mike O'Hora. Frank Doll and Joe Valerio Fish were caught by fishing in, or on top of the weeds, or working deep with jigs, drop shot or crank baits.
Chris Cartwright and Jack Wilson.
Shawn Smith and Jack Loughery.
Dick Hyde has a nice bass on as Shawn Potlaski nets. Everyone reported that they had caught and released many 11 3/4 inch bass today. This is a good sign for fishing in the future. We fished until 2:00 p.m., pulled the boats, and started our weigh-in in the parking lot.
Anglers line up to have their fish weighed. After all the fish are entered and released alive, the awarding of prize money takes place.
Dick Hyde shows off his winning Big Bass.
Dick Hyde wins the Bass Pro Big Bass award, a $25.00 Bass Pro gift card plus cash by catching a 4.15 pound smallmouth.
Dick Hyde from Bass Pro Shops awards the IM8 Graphic Rod to Chris Cartwright. Bass Pro in Auburn is sponsor of the "Just out of the money" award, and has generously donated a IM8 Graphic rod (value $50.00) to the angler that finishes just out of the money (6th place) each week. This week Chris Cartwright is the recipient of this award.
Ron VanBenschoten takes 5th place.
Connell Raate takes 4th place.
Frank Doll takes 3rd place Hey everyone, Frank gets to have his picture taken in front of the sign !!!!!!!
Joe Valerio takes 2nd place
Dick Hyde takes 1st place And first place goes to Dick Hyde with 5 fish weighing in at 12.02 pounds.
And now, how did Dick do it.
Dick worked a drop shot with a Berkley Gulp Alive "Bulky Howg", green pumpkin color in 15' to 20' of water. The "Howg" was rigged with a Mustad drop shot hook and had a 1/8 oz weight attached to it.
Members have there "bag of goodies" This tournament was sponsored by Mustad. After the weigh-in all members that attended the tournament received a bag full of Mustad hooks, etc. Thanks to Mustad for their generosity. |
