Onondaga Lake

Sunday June 29th 2008

The day started out a little cloudy with a west wind that put up a little chop on the water.

The boats are launched.

At 6:00 A.M. blast off, we spread out all over the lake and the Seneca River.

Dave Donhauser and John Musenga.

Dick Hyde and Kevin Hamon

During the day, the sun started to peak between the clouds and the wind changed to the south.

Ron VanBenschoten shows off his Big Bass for the day.

We fished until 1:00 p.m.. pulled the boats and started our weigh-in in the parking lot.

Boats circle around waiting for their trailers.

As the boats come out of the water, members gather around to get their fish weighted.

The line-up

The fish are checked to make sure they are alive, and at least 12" long.

Then they (the fish) go to the weigh-master to get the anglers total weight.

After the weigh-in, the prizes are awarded.

Bass Pro has generously donated a IM-8 graphite rod (value $50.00) too the person that finishes "Just out of the Money", and today that award goes to Mike O'Hora

Mike also takes the Bass Pro Big Bass award which is a $25.00 gift card plus cash for catching a 4.26 pound largemouth.

John Nye takes 5th with 9.54 pounds

Joe Valero takes 4th with 10.15 pounds

Chris Cartwright takes 3rd with 12.63 pounds

Ron VanBenschoten takes 2nd with 12.64 pounds

And first place goes to Connell Raate with 5 fish weighing in at 13.25 pounds

Congratulations Connell Raate.

Now, how did Connell do it.

Connell worked a white fluke rigged with a Mustad 3/0 hook and no weight just outside of the weeds that grow all along the shore of the lake.
