Club Classic 2011 Oneida Lake October 8th and 9th Nolan Edwards finds the fish and wins the classic.
Mornings are always beautiful when you're fishing Saturday, October 8th We launched from the state launch at Godfrey Point. It was a beautiful morning with an east wind putting a uncomfortable chop on the lake.
Dave Donhauser and Tom Hudson on the water The wind slowly settled all day.
Ron "V" and Kevin Schneider
We returned to the launch and started "dewatering" the boats.
The scales are set up and the weigh-in begins for the first day weights.
Nice fish T.J. T.J. Church wins the Big Bass award for the first day with a smallmouth weighing in at 3.53 pounds At the end of the day Tom Church worked his magic and caught 14.40 lbs.. Bill Kay was in a solid second place with 14.13 lbs.. and Noland Edwards was in third with 13.66 lbs.
Sunday, October 9th 2011 2nd day of Classic Oneida Shores Launch Our starting air temp. was in the mid 60's, and there was only a light east wind.
Another start to the perfect day. The wind stayed down all day so that fishing was a lot easer.
Nolan Edwards has caught another nice smallmouth. Being a two day event, on Sunday the weights from both days are added together to determine the winner.
Ron VanBenschoten wins the Big Bass for the 2nd day with a 4.20 smallmouth and also takes the Big Bass for the tournament. After all is done, here is the standings for the classic.
Tom Church takes 4th place with a total of 19.61 pounds.
Bill Kays takes 3rd place with a total of 20.54 pounds.
Ron VanBenschoten takes 2nd place with a total of 23.06 pounds.
And Nolan Edwards wins with a total of 26.44 pounds.
So for the year, here are the final standings.
Bill Kays wins "Angler of the Year" on the boater side.
Bill Peck wins "Angler of the Year" on the non-boater side.
The following members have won entry into the NYS BASS Federation CTC to be held next August. Boaters are = Bill Kays, Tom Church and Ron VanBenschoten Non-Boaters are = Bill Peck Kevin Schneider and Paul Hudson. Alternates are Nolan Edwards and Joe Valero. And now a word on improvement. Paul at Sodus Bay in 2005 In 2005, Paul Hudson joined our club and quite frankly, was having trouble catching any bass. Although Paul was really enjoying himself while fishing, he was busy watching and learning.
Paul on Oneida Lake in 2011 Well. He certainly did learn. His smile is just as big, it's just the fish that have gotten bigger. Nice catch Paul
